Fraxel (“fractional resurfacing”) is used for the treatment of photoaging, acne scarring and stretch marks. Fraxel is indicated for the treatment of fine wrinkles, precancers, uneven skin tone, melasma, and brown spots caused by aging and sun exposure. Fraxel treatment also improves dark undereye circles. Following a series of Fraxel laser treatments, the skin gradually becomes softer, smoother tighter and fresher. In contrast to previous resurfacing technologies, Fraxel treatment is ideal for sensitive skin areas such as face, neck, chest and hands.
What is FRAXEL? Fraxel Laser Treatment produces thousands of tiny but deep columns of treatment in the skin, known as microthermal treatment zones. The treatment eliminates old epidermal (surface) cells and also penetrates deep into the dermis. Just as important, though, are the areas of skin Fraxel leaves untouched. For every microthermal zone the laser targets and treats intensively, it leaves the surrounding tissue unaffected and intact. Following treatment, there is redness and mild swelling that resolves within 3-4 days. Over the following weeks and months, the body repairs the deeper dermal tissues that have been affected by Fraxel Laser treatment, producing beneficial skin changes that continue to improve over the next 12 to 18 months.
