Is used for the elimination of unsightly varicose veins and superficial telangiectasias (“spider veins”).
HOW IS SCLEROTHERAPY PERFORMED? The solution (sclerosing agent) is injected into the vein through an ultra fine needle. You may feel a pinch or slight stinging sensation. After the procedure, you may experience a mild itching sensation along the vein route. The itching normally last one to two hours, but may persist for a day or so. Dr. Tina B. West treats an entire leg in one session and a compression stocking is recommended for 3 days following treatment. The other leg may be treated within a week. One to three treatment sessions per leg are generally required to achieve maximal clearance of veins. Treatments are spaced 4-6 weeks apart.
